I feel that gays and atheists have so much in common. Both are totally demonized, especially by the religious reich. Both are often disowned by family and friends for the unpardonable sin of being honest. On my own blog (http://brazilbrat.blogspot.com/) I have a piece about Becoming Free and the things I went through with my own parents when I started thinking for myself and became an atheist. I have a relative who, after 40 years of marriage, came out as being gay. He and his partner have been gradually accepted by his family, but it has taken years. The irony is, he is quite religious and has been active in his church for decades. Well, no one can be perfect, can they? Excellent observation. I feel that gays and atheists have so much in common.
